Corporate commitment to monuments protection and preservation
As a provider of street furniture, we value the architectural heritage of our cities. We are strongly committed to the preservation and maintenance of historically significant buildings. Our eminent contributions to the safeguarding of Berlin's urban legacy include the reconstruction of the famous "Café Achteck" (Café Octagon), the restoration of the façade of the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtnis-Kirche (Memorial Church), or the reconstruction and preservation of Ernst Th. A. Litfass' grave of honour.
We are especially committed to supporting Denk mal an Berlin e.V.,
a registered charity dedicated to the restoration of selected ancient monuments as well as to the enhancement of public awareness for Berlin's landscape of monuments in its entirety.
Since its foundation in 2003, Hans Wall, chairman of Wall AG's supervisory board, is president of Denk mal an Berlin e.V. To ensure lasting support for Denk mal an Berlin, we provide the salaries for two full-time employees and office spaces for the association's management.
Currently, Denk mal an Berlin e.V. is promoting the reconstruction of the bell tower of the baroque Parochial Church, situated in the ancient city centre (Berlin-Mitte). Fundraising for this project as well as for the restoration of other monuments in the German capital is a present focus of the charity.
Wall AG supports this special promotion project with a high-profile public fundraising campaign. A further aim of Denk mal an Berlin is to stimulate public commitment to monuments protection and preservation, especially targeting the young. In personal encounters with experts and by guided tours, Denk mal an Berlin e.V. offers its members and guests the possibility to learn about Berlin's unique historical architecture and cityscape. In cooperation with Wall AG, the charity takes charge of the cleaning of the monuments in Berlin-Kreuzberg's Viktoriapark (national monument for the liberation-wars, since 2003) and in Volkspark Friedrichshain (Polish national monument, since 2004).
