Embellishing cities – preserving monuments
Wall AG supports registered charity for monuments protection

Following our corporate vision "For cities. For people", we are a reliable and responsible partner to the city and the citizens of Berlin, where our company's headquarters are situated. We are especially committed to monuments protection, supporting the registered charity Denk mal an Berlin e.V. This non-profit association is dedicated to the reconstruction and preservation of historic monuments and to the enhancement of public awareness for monuments protection.
It is the only existing non-profit organisation committed to the capital's landscape of monuments in its entirety. Since its foundation in 2003, Hans Wall, chairman of Wall AG's supervisory board, is president of Denk mal an Berlin e.V. To ensure lasting support for Denk mal an Berlin, we provide the salaries for two full-time employees and office spaces for the charity's management. The charity was founded by dedicated Berlin citizens, enjoying the support of the Berlin Monuments Authority and the Senate Chancellery of Berlin.

With more than 8,000 registered monuments, amongst them 500 horticultural monuments, Germany's largest city has the task to preserve and maintain a large and widely unknown heritage. Denk mal an Berlin e.V. promotes monuments protection in the German capital by means of youth projects, events, fundraising and public relations.

Currently, Denk mal an Berlin e.V., which has about 250 members, promotes the reconstruction of the baroque bell tower of the Parochial Church in Berlin's ancient city-centre (Berlin-Mitte). Since 2008, Denk mal an Berlin focuses on this project, closely cooperating with the church's parish. Amongst the charity's activities for the promotion project fundraising takes the first place. Together with the parish, Denk mal an Berlin also accompanies the project's public relations during the four-year construction term which will be completed in 2012.

At present, four successful promotion projects initiated by Denk mal an Berlin are already embellishing the cityscape: The "Butt-" Fountain on Museumsinsel in the heart of Berlin (2004), the Märchenbrunnen (Fairy-Tale-Fountain) in Volkspark Friedrichshain (2005), the monument for Albrecht von Graefe in Berlin-Mitte (2005) and the tank-pedestal in front of the German-Russian Museum in Berlin-Karlshorst (2008).

Denk mal an Berlin e.V. contributes to awakening the interest of young citizens in monuments preservation by realizing and financing an annual youth-project. Since 2004 the association has introduced more than 500 children and adolescents to the cause of monuments protection. Denk mal an Berlin directly reaches the citizens of Berlin by means of expert guided tours and lectures by distinguished specialists.
